FAQ & Other Good Stuff

Where can I find you online?

Here’s where I post updates, share art, and occasionally overthink my captions:

Did you go to art school?

Sort of! I earned a B.A. in Theatre with a design emphasis, plus a minor in Studio Art from Bethel University in St. Paul, MN. So yes, I was a Theatre Major—which probably explains why I love big ideas, bold colors, and dramatic lighting. It wasn’t a traditional art school path, but it gave me a solid foundation in design and storytelling.

What tools do you use to create your art?

I bounce between digital and traditional depending on the project—and the day.
Right now, most of my work is done in Procreate on the iPad, with occasional finishing touches in Adobe Photoshop. I also use Adobe Illustrator and InDesign when I need clean vector work or want to lay something out just right. That said, I still love working by hand. Pen and ink, watercolor pencils, and paint are all in the rotation. Gouache is on my to-learn list. Honestly, I’ve never met an art supply I didn’t want to try.

Do you sell prints?

Not currently, but I’ve offered them before and might again! If there’s something you’re interested in, feel free to email me. In the past I’ve handled each order myself and used a trusted printer for giclée prints on Somerset velvet paper. It's soft, a little textured, and makes colors sing—which is exactly how I like it.

Can I send you an idea to illustrate?

I don’t take outside suggestions—not because I don’t appreciate the enthusiasm, but because I like to keep my creative queue clear for the ideas already rattling around in my brain (and there are a lot). Also, with three kids at home I’ve got to be choosy with my time.

Do you take commissions?

Not at this time. I’m currently focusing on creating for myself and getting back into a rhythm after a creative break. That space to explore is really important to me right now.

How do you get away with drawing copyrighted characters?

Great question. I don’t claim ownership over any of the characters that appear in my fan art—just the artwork I create. My illustrations are done in the spirit of tribute and creative expression, which falls under Fair Use. It’s all about celebrating the stories and characters that have inspired me.

Can I print your work myself if you send me the file?

I appreciate the interest, but no—I don’t share high-resolution files for printing.

Anything else we should know about you?

I’m a mom of three, and while I try to keep up with life’s chaos, I’ll always choose working on an illustration over folding laundry (thankfully, my kids are old enough now to pitch in). Ice cream is my comfort food (despite being lactose intolerant), I love a good audiobook, a well-written TV series, and have a soft spot for Doctor Who marathons with my family. Bryan (that’s my husband) and I have been married for over 20 years and co-founded Good Nerd Bad Nerd Games together. He’s a big reason I love all things nerdy and has always encouraged me to keep creating—even when life gets chaotic.
